2022 World Cup qualifiers: dates and rankings for the American national teams

 


While from Thursday 24 March the playoffs will be played in Europe to access the 2022 World Cup in Qatar , overseas qualifiers are still in the first phase. In America , in fact, the national teams are currently divided into two large groups for qualifying for the World Cup in Qatar: one represents the teams from the north of the continent ( CONCACAF ), the other, on the other hand, involves the South American teams ( CONMEBOL ).

As for the South American national teams, the end of the qualifications for the 2022 World Cup is approaching. In fact, out of a total of 18 days , 16 are already played by the 10 teams involved. The last two are scheduled for the next 24 and 30 March and will decide the 4 Nationals qualified directly for the final phase in Qatar, while the fifth classified will access the intercontinental play -offs . Below is the provisional ranking , stopped at Matchday 16, but with the match between Argentina and Brazil still to be recovered.

CONCACAF, ranking and teams involved in the last matches

As for the North American teams , this edition of the qualifiers introduced a new format, divided into three rounds . The first was attended by 30 teams, distributed in 6 groups of 5. The first of each group then advanced to the second round, which saw the 6 national teams clash in three games with the return formula. Now, having reached the final phase, the 3 teams advanced from the second round are present together with the best 5 national teams based on the FIFA ranking of July 2020. The 8 teams have been included in a single group with home and away matches: the first 3 ranked will qualify directlyat the world championship, while the fourth will play the intercontinental play-off . All the latest races will be held from 24 to 31 March. Below is the provisional ranking, 3 days from the end.
